SOCHI OLYMPIC GAMES ARE NEAR

During the Sochi 2014 Olympics, the air harbor will face a number of issues related to servicing the flow of private aviation flights and, first of all, it will be of great intensity, several times higher than the current one.

In February, the average daily number of private aviation flights at Sochi airport does not exceed 2.5 per day. For comparison, on the day of the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in London, the air hub served 215 business aviation flights, this is not counting the letter flights with government delegations. Although Heathrow Airport was closed to private jets for the entire period of the Olympics, 215 flights were distributed between the four airports of the capital's air hub (Luton, Farnborough, Biggin Hill and Stanstead). There is only one airport in Sochi and the Winter Olympic Games are always of interest not much less than the summer ones. How it is planed to deal with the issue of aircraft maintenance during peak days, which may be 7000% more than usual? 

In 2013, it is planned to commission a new VIP terminal to serve private aviation passengers. It is planned that private jets will disembark passengers and fly to other nearby airports - Anapa, Rostov, Krasnodar, Gelendzhik, since the Sochi airport apron will not be able to accommodate everyone who wants to park their private jet. Additional towing equipment was purchased for towing aircraft on the airport apron. It is also expected to supply additional machines for the treatment of aircraft with de-icing fluid.
