There are two international airports near the city of Reykjavik – Reykjavik Airport and Keflavic Airport. Both airports have “international” status, but Reykjavik Airport handles mostly domestic Iceland flights and flights to Greenland. This has a logical explanation, as runway in Reykjavik Airport is shorter.
Keflavic International Airport (Keflavíkurflugvöllur) is the largest airport in Iceland and the main international airport in the country. Airport is located in 50 kilometers from Reykjavik city center. Airport is often used for fuel stops when performing flights from Europe to the USA or Canada.
There are two asphalt runways in Keflavic airport which length is 3,054 and 3,65 meters. It is possible to operate Keflavic airport on all types of private jets. Airport is open around the clock.
There is special Business Aviation Center at Keflavic airport that consists of VIP terminal, aprons for parking of private jets, hangars for storage and maintenance. It is possible to pass all airport formalities in this VIP terminal or have a rest during refueling.
