Novy Urengoy Airport is located in 5 kilometers to the city center. Airport was opened in 1975. In 1980 took place runway modernization that made possible to operate jet aircraft, at that time Tu-134 mostly.

Currently Novy Urengoy runway length is 2,550 meters. It is possible to perform flights to Novy Urengoy on all types of private jets. There are plans to build new passenger terminal, enlarge car parking and make the runway longer to make possible to operate heavy airliners.
